Why The Collective?

  • I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today without The Collective. Having Michael as a teacher helped me discover who I am as an artist and allowed me to create, play, and be vulnerable in a safe and loving environment. To this day, I will cherish the memories and teachings from The Collective, while continuing to use what I learned there into my future career.

Gracie Scullion / Roosevelt MT ‘25

  • I had the pleasure of coaching with Michael Campayno while auditioning for college theatre programs. As I now enter into my third year as a BFA Acting Major at Boston University, I can honestly say Michael is one of the most exceptional acting coaches I've ever worked with. His teaching style is the perfect mix of engaging and challenging, thus encouraging me to take risks and reach new heights I never imagined possible as a young high school actor. To put it simply, Michael believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. He is kind, generous, and selfless with his students- utilizing his professional skills as a Broadway actor to lift the next generation of artists. I feel lucky to know and have worked with someone as special as Michael.

Jenna Giordano / Boston University Acting ‘21

  • Michael pushes you while creating a safe environment - you cannot grow if you do not feel safe, and Michael sees each student as an artist. I am now a freshman in College and can truly say, He is teaching you what you will learn in College. Even here, Michael is one call away and is as invested in my career past The Collective. If you want to become a true artist - go here.

Victoria Medich / Roosevelt University MT ‘26

  • My time at The Collective will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew more as an actor in my year at The Collective than I ever had before. I do not think I would have been nearly as prepared for college level Theatre if I had not have taken the leap and signed up. The Collective’s environment was so uplifting; it was unlike anything I had ever experienced and brought me friendships that will last a lifetime. There are truly not enough words to describe the amount of good The Collective has brought into my life, and I am forever thankful for my experience and mentors there.

    Aubri McCune / Cal U ‘25

  • When I was auditioning for Musical Theatre schools, Michael was so patient and encouraging; he was always willing to rehearse a song over and over again until it was just right. He stuck by my side in the most nerve-wracking moments and enthusiastically celebrated my successes. Work with Michael!!!

Isabel Stein / University of Michigan MT ‘19

  • Michael is a teacher who connects on a personal level with his students, not only as a mentor but also with the material that is being worked on. While Michael and I worked, we focused on connecting the songs to me, through the characters experience, by analyzing and breaking down the text so I could really get a clear understanding of what this character is facing. I have never felt more supported and safe in a studio - giving me the opportunity to unapologetically play and connect with the material, ultimately allowing myself to leave my own interpretation on the piece! Michael is the cheerleader that you want on your team, guiding you every step of the way to success. He is someone who will always go that extra mile for his students and cares so much about their aspirations and goals. He is so incredibly knowledgeable about the craft that every lesson I would leave with a new sense of confidence and understanding of what it means to be an actor. Michael helped me to be the artist that I am today.

Mickey White / Boston Conservatory MT ‘20

  • Attending classes at The Collective was one of the best decisions I've made in the last few years. Michael offers a course that forces you to dive deep into every piece of work you take on, creates a vulnerable environment for you and your peers to take a more mature approach to the subject matter, while simultaneously being there every step of the way with you, to help you understand why you are doing what you are doing and to help you feel safe. Michael is one of the best teachers I've had the pleasure to work with and anyone who's able to, should take the opportunity to be apart of The Collective!

    Alek Boggio / LPPACS ‘21

  • I began my training with the collective in the beginning of my Senior year while beginning the college audition process. Michael is one of the best coaches I have had the pleasure to work with. I saw my own progress happening right before my eyes in each class. I gained skills that made me feel confident in every college audition I did and got accepted into incredible programs! I learned so much that really prepared me for the work I've been doing in college. He is incredibly supportive and challenges each student to do their best, most authentic work. Michael is also an incredibly knowledgeable mentor in all areas of theatre!

Alyssa Marchbank / Point Park Theater Arts ‘26
